In depth

Trailer 1, from December 2023, is built around Lucia. It opens with her in an orange jumpsuit opposite a prison counselor, cuts across Vice City beach crowds, rooftop pools and swamp roads, and closes with Lucia and Jason raiding a store together, masked. The robbery-couple framing is there from the first minute. Just as telling is how it is edited: much of the world arrives as in-world social media clips, vertical phone footage of a woman dancing on a moving car, a man swinging hammers on his porch as police close in, alligators wandering through backyards. Rockstar is selling a world dense enough to generate its own viral feed.

Trailer 2, from May 2025, picks the thread up on the outside. Lucia walks out of prison to Jason waiting, wears an ankle monitor in later scenes, and the two run jobs together: masked hold-ups, car chases, boats threading the Leonida Keys. It also shows the returning gun-store loop through a TV commercial for Phil’s Ammu-Nation, and Rockstar noted the footage was captured on a PlayStation 5. The couple dynamic is not subtext; it is the whole trailer.

What Rockstar has actually stated is narrower than what fans assume. On the record: you play both Lucia and Jason; the map spans six named Leonida regions; Lucia starts the story fresh out of Leonida Penitentiary (that is her official bio, not a leak); and Jason begins as muscle for drug runner Brian Heder in the Keys. What Rockstar has not explained is the mechanic underneath the duo, whether you switch between leads GTA 5 style, control them side by side in missions, or something new.

Leaks fill that vacuum, and none of them are official: a returning six-star wanted level with K-9 units, fan tallies pointing at 300-plus vehicles, a 35 to 75 hour campaign. Each of those pages keeps the claim separated from the evidence.

And some things are simply unknown, with no credible leak either way: mission and heist structure, progression, whether the first-person mode GTA 5 added in 2014 returns, and everything about the online mode. Rockstar has released two cinematic trailers and zero minutes of raw gameplay, so the honest status of most systems is: not shown yet.
