State of Leonida

Leonida is the state GTA 6 takes place in, and it stands in for real-world Florida. Rockstar describes it as the home of Vice City and the land around it, stretching from a glossy beach metropolis out to wetlands, small coastal towns and a chain of tropical islands. Game Informer’s September 2026 cover story reports more than 170 animal species across the state, including alligators, manatees, flamingos and pelicans, and localized weather with tropical storms. Rockstar’s Ultimate Edition copy also places One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop in Lake Leonida.

Vice City

Vice City returns as the centerpiece of the map, this time a present-day city rather than the 1980s version players remember. Rockstar calls it the sun and fun capital of America, with neighborhoods that run from the pastel art deco hotels and white sands of Ocean Beach to the panaderías of Little Cuba and the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world.

It anchors the map the way Los Santos anchored GTA 5. Several beach and neighborhood areas have been shown in official material, though Rockstar has not published a full neighborhood map yet.

Leonida Keys

The Leonida Keys are a tropical archipelago. Rockstar describes island life there as easy rather than flashy, with deck chairs and loaded bars, and warns that the surrounding waters are among the most beautiful and dangerous in America. Rockstar’s bios put Jason in the Keys, living rent-free at one of Brian Heder’s properties in return for help with local shakedowns, and Brian runs his smuggling operation out of a Keys boat yard.

Grassrivers

Grassrivers is the swamp region, a huge wetland of mangroves and waterways that Rockstar calls the untamable jewel of Leonida’s crown. Rockstar says the gators may be its most famous attraction, with far deadlier predators among the mangroves. Airboats appear in its official screenshots, and An Extended Look shows fan boats in Everglades-style wetlands.

Port Gellhorn

Port Gellhorn is a gritty stretch of coast that was once a popular vacation spot and has since fallen on harder times. Rockstar describes cheap motels, shut-down attractions and empty strip malls, with a new economy fueled by malt liquor, painkillers and truck stop energy drinks.

Ambrosia

Ambrosia sits in the heart of Leonida, where Rockstar says American industry and old school values still reign supreme. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else.

Mount Kalaga

Mount Kalaga National Park is what Rockstar calls a national landmark, on Leonida’s northern border, with hunting, fishing and off-road trails. Rockstar describes hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals living far from the prying eyes of the government in the surrounding backwoods.
