GTA 6 editions compared
GTA 6 comes in two editions: Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99 in the US. Ultimate adds exclusive in-game items and is digital only; the boxed copy is Standard with a download code. There is no Collector’s Edition of the game, but Rockstar sells a separate Vice City Collection box without the game. Any purchase before November 20 gets the free Vintage Vice City Pack.

Which edition should you buy?
Standard is the base game. Ultimate is the base game plus exclusive vehicles, weapons, outfits, tattoos and shops, so the $20 gap buys extra content, and Rockstar marks the Ultimate shops as open only with that edition. If you are unsure, buy Standard: Rockstar Support says the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is sold on the PlayStation and Microsoft stores, and the Xbox Store lists it at $20, so you can step up later.
Early buyers are leaning premium. Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick told CNBC on August 10 that pre-orders skew to the Ultimate edition, and Sensor Tower estimated that about 89% of the pre-orders it tracked were Ultimate (TechRadar). Neither is an official sales number.
What comes with an order
- Vintage Vice City Pack with every purchase made before November 20, 2026, boxed or digital, on either edition. Xbox lists the cutoff as 23:59:59 on November 19.
- One month of GTA+ with digital pre-orders only. It renews automatically unless you cancel. The Xbox Store listing says to redeem it within 180 days of placing the pre-order, once per platform account.
- Digital pre-load from November 10, 2026: midnight local time on PS5, 12 a.m. GMT on Xbox Series X and S. A boxed copy can pre-load once its download code is in hand, and Rockstar said code-in-box copies should be available from retailers beginning November 12.
- Launch on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. The PlayStation Store unlocks it at local midnight in waves, starting in New Zealand.
Physical or digital?
The box is not a disc. Rockstar confirmed that the retail case holds a download code for the Standard edition, so you still download the game and need the storage for it. Ultimate is digital only, and the free GTA+ month comes only with digital pre-orders. Buy the box if you want a physical gift, a retailer deal or to pay in store; once you have the code, it pre-loads like a digital copy.
Standard vs Ultimate, side by side
For almost everyone, Standard. The extra $20 for Ultimate adds Ultimate Edition content such as Jason’s Safehouse Vehicles, mod shops, a tattoo parlor and a Classic Car Collection, and Rockstar has not detailed what the Standard edition’s world holds. Buy Ultimate only if you want those extras.

The Vice City Collection collector’s box
This is the closest thing to a collector’s edition, and it does not include the game.
Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State, Vice City Collection on September 24, 2026. It is a limited box of 11 items themed on Macca the Gator, a TV show inside the game: a Macca figure with a twist-open stash base, GTAVI Oakley Frogskins, a New Era snapback, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, pins, a poster and more.

- Shipping: from November 19, 2026, one per person, to 23 countries at launch: the US, Canada, the UK and 20 European countries. Rockstar says details for Asia, Latin America and Australia are still to come.

GTA VI: The Album on vinyl and CD
Atlantic Records releases Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 original tracks, on November 19 with the game. The official US album store sells two double-LP vinyl versions at $49.98 and two CD versions at $19.98; the $124.98 liquid-filled limited vinyl is sold out. Physical copies ship November 20. You can pre-save it on streaming services or order on the official album store.

Is there a GTA 6 Collector’s Edition?
Not of the game. On September 24, 2026 Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State, Vice City Collection, a limited collector’s box of 11 items themed on Leonida’s TV show Macca the Gator. The game is sold separately. Vice and Kotaku report a price of $399.99. It ships from November 19, is limited to one per person, and the Rockstar Store ships it to 23 countries at launch.
Is there a physical GTA 6 Ultimate edition?
No. Ultimate is digital only. The boxed retail version is the Standard edition, and the case holds a download code rather than a disc.
Do digital pre-orders get anything extra?
