Answer
Does GTA 6 have a first-person mode?
A first-person mode is not officially confirmed for GTA 6, but almost everyone expects it to return. Rockstar built a full first-person camera into the current-gen version of GTA 5 in 2014 and it became a signature feature, so the tools and the audience already exist; the studio simply has not confirmed a GTA 6 first-person toggle.
Everything Rockstar has shown of GTA 6 is third-person. Both trailers, from December 2023 and May 2025, present the action from the usual over-the-shoulder camera, with no first-person clip in either. That is normal for a Rockstar reveal and says nothing either way about a hidden first-person option.
The expectation comes from GTA 5. When the game reached PS4 and Xbox One in November 2014, Rockstar added a complete first-person mode, covered at the time by GameSpot, with a cockpit driving view, aim-down-sights shooting and full on-foot first-person, and it carried into GTA Online. Rockstar said it had wanted the feature for years but could not fit it on the older PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware.
GTA 6 runs on far stronger current-generation machines, so the technical barrier that once blocked first-person is gone. That makes the option highly likely on paper. Still, Rockstar has published no camera or control details for GTA 6, so treat first-person as widely expected rather than confirmed.
