Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on August 27, 2026, its third official GTA 6 video and the one most people mean when they search for Trailer 3. It runs 26 minutes and 48 seconds, was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, and is free on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel. Rockstar does not number it Trailer 3.

Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on August 27, 2026. Netflix showed it first at 3 p.m. ET, then it went up on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET. It runs 26 minutes and 48 seconds, and Rockstar says it was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. Rockstar does not call it Trailer 3, so searches for a third trailer land on this video.

The format is the biggest break from before. Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023) ran about 90 seconds and Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025) mixed gameplay and cutscenes across a short reel. The Extended Look is far longer and built differently. PC Gamer described it as a montage of clips, some only a few seconds and some longer mission scenes, rather than one continuous demo, so it reads as a wide survey of the game rather than a single playthrough.

The clearest new idea is switching between Jason and Lucia. Outlets watching the footage saw the player swap between the two leads, including in the middle of combat, and one hot swap cut from Lucia parachuting off a tower straight to Jason in the middle of a conversation. That builds on the dual-lead setup from Trailer 2 and shows the pair controlled as one connected system rather than two separate campaigns.

The police system drew the most attention. The wanted level now climbs to six stars, where GTA 5 stopped at five. Police track what they actually know about you through on-screen icons: your clothes, your face, your car, and whether Jason and Lucia are together. Patrol cars no longer show up as markers on the minimap, and you can shake a pursuit by changing masks, hats and clothes or by switching vehicles.

Away from the chases, the footage showed cover-based shootouts, shooting from a moving car, car races and dirt-bike races, and a long list of activities: basketball, kayaking, scuba diving, parachuting and BASE jumping, fan boats through Everglades-style wetlands, and petting dogs. It moved through Vice City and areas well outside it, including the wetlands, which lines up with Rockstar’s six named regions of Leonida.

Smaller touches pointed at a more reactive world: Jason taking food from the fridge in Lucia’s apartment, text messages between the two leads, and an influencer livestream with on-screen chat. Red Bull reported a Criminal Profile that tracks your behavior across the game and body changes that follow your lifestyle, such as weight, muscle and tiredness. Rob Nelson told Famitsu it is the series’ first system of its kind and that it shares traits with Red Dead Redemption 2’s Honor meter. Treat those as reported detail from launch-day coverage rather than a Rockstar spec sheet.

On the technical side, Kotaku reported, from creators who visited Rockstar North, that consoles run the game at 30fps at this stage and that Rockstar would not commit to a 60fps mode. Red Bull reported that the single-player game launches without microtransactions and that Rockstar used no generative AI in development. Rob Nelson told The New York Times that his own playthrough ran about 80 hours including optional goals, though Rockstar has not published an official story length.

For all its length, the Extended Look did not mention GTA Online for GTA 6, a PC version or a full map reveal. If you are waiting on an online mode, a PC date or a boundary map, this video did not answer those questions. For the launch facts around it, see the GTA 6 release date and the live countdown.
