GTA 6 roleplay (RP)
GTA roleplay is players acting out original characters on community-run servers. Rockstar has announced no GTA 6 RP mode or server support, and no PC version or mod tools, so no GTA 6 RP date can be set until those dependencies exist. For Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar announced support for the nopixel V roleplay closed beta on September 1, 2026.
What GTA roleplay is
In GTA roleplay, players join a community-run server, create their own character, and stay in character the whole time. One player is a cop, another runs a garage, another builds a criminal crew, and the stories emerge naturally. RP grew out of the community and is not an official Rockstar mode.
Rockstar and roleplay
On September 1, 2026, Rockstar’s Newswire announced the nopixel V closed beta for Grand Theft Auto V, saying it is proud to support nopixel. Invited players reach it through the Rockstar Games Launcher from September 8, and Rockstar listed a reworked character customization system, a new Pixel Hotel and Casino, a six-block revamp of Cypress Flats and smarter pedestrians. Twitch Drops ran from September 8 to 30. Rockstar also said more news is coming on updates, events and expanded access. Read the official post. It is about GTA V, not GTA 6. Why it matters
Roleplay is one way a game stays alive for years. TheGamer reported, citing Twitch year-end data, that GTA 5 was the most-watched game on Twitch in 2024, with more than 1.3 billion hours watched. A strong RP scene can turn a game into a long-running live spectacle for players and viewers.
Will GTA 6 have roleplay?
Not at launch based on anything Rockstar has announced. GTA roleplay currently runs through PC mod platforms, and GTA 6 releases on PS5 and Xbox only on November 19, 2026, with no PC version announced. Rockstar has also not announced a GTA 6 online mode, GTA 6 mod tools, community server support or an RP schedule. Until those dependencies exist, any GTA 6 RP release year is speculation.
Common roleplay roles and what you actually do
Police officer (Law)
Patrol the city, respond to crimes, run traffic stops, and build long-running stories with criminals and civilians.

Is there GTA 6 roleplay yet?
Not yet. GTA roleplay currently runs on PC mod platforms, while Rockstar lists GTA 6 only for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. No PC version, GTA 6 mod support or RP server release has been announced.
Will GTA 6 have roleplay servers?
Unknown. GTA 5 has a community-made RP scene, but Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 PC version, mod tools, official RP support or an RP release schedule.
How do you start GTA roleplay?
On GTA 5 today, players use a PC mod platform to join a community roleplay server, create a character, and stay in character. The nopixel V closed beta that Rockstar announced on September 1, 2026 is invite-only and runs through the Rockstar Games Launcher. Is GTA roleplay official?
