Rockstar has announced no GTA 6 RP mode or server support, and no PC version or mod tools.

GTA roleplay is players acting out original characters on dedicated servers, and it made GTA 5 the most-watched game on Twitch. Rockstar has announced no GTA 6 RP mode or server support, and no PC version or mod tools. Here is what RP means today and which dependencies remain unknown.

Information only. We cover roleplay as a community phenomenon. We do not host, link or distribute any mods, servers, or tools, and we never promote cheating or modded accounts.

What GTA roleplay is

In GTA roleplay, players join a community-run server, create their own character, and stay in character the whole time. One player is a cop, another runs a garage, another builds a criminal crew, and the stories emerge naturally. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy described it as improv theater that grew out of the community, not an official Rockstar mode.

Why it matters

Roleplay is a big reason GTA stays alive for years. GTA 5 was the most-watched game on Twitch in 2024, with more than 1.4 billion hours watched, and RP was a major driver of that. A strong RP scene turns a single-player game into a years-long live spectacle.

Will GTA 6 have roleplay?

Not at launch based on anything Rockstar has announced. GTA roleplay currently runs through PC mod platforms, and GTA 6 releases on PS5 and Xbox only on November 19, 2026, with no PC version announced. Rockstar has also not announced GTA 6 mod tools, community server support or an RP schedule. Until those dependencies exist, any GTA 6 RP release year is speculation.
