Will my GTA Online progress carry over to GTA 6?

The widely held expectation is that GTA 6 Online starts fresh. GTA 5 GTA Online has years of inflated cash and futuristic, overpowered vehicles that would clash with the more grounded world GTA 6 is going for, so a direct transfer is seen as unlikely. Rockstar has not confirmed anything either way.
The original GTA Online is not expected to simply shut down at launch. Take-Two has signaled it will keep supporting legacy titles while their communities stay active, so you should be able to keep playing the GTA 5 version for a while.
