Answer
Can you swim in GTA 6?
Yes, count on it. Rockstar’s own Leonida Keys page carries a screenshot of a scuba diver swimming underwater among sea turtles, moray eels and reef fish, and every mainline GTA since San Andreas in 2004 has let you swim.
The strongest evidence is official and underwater. When Rockstar relaunched the GTA 6 site in May 2025, its Leonida Keys page included a screenshot of a scuba diver moving through coral, turtles, eels and schools of fish, clear proof the game world continues below the surface rather than stopping at it. Other official screenshots show fishing from a boat and jet skis on open water.
The trailers themselves stay at surface level. Trailer 1 from December 2023 is full of water, beach crowds, a backyard pool with an alligator in it, boats racing the bay, but contains no underwater shot; Trailer 2 from May 2025 threads boats through the Leonida Keys. So the underwater proof lives in the screenshots, not the trailer edits.
Precedent fills in the rest: GTA San Andreas introduced swimming in 2004, GTA 5 added scuba gear and diving, and Leonida is a coastal state wrapped around a swamp. Rockstar has not published swim controls or breath mechanics, so the fine detail is the only open question.
