Trailer 1: the reveal (December 4, 2023)

The reveal trailer introduced modern Vice City, the wider state of Leonida, and the dual leads: Lucia, the first female co-lead in the modern 3D and HD-era GTA series, and Jason. The original 2D-era GTA included playable women. It set the tone in ninety seconds: neon nightlife, swamp Florida, social-media chaos, and a Bonnie-and-Clyde promise. The numbers were historic. Variety and Forbes reported 93 million YouTube views in the first 24 hours, the biggest debut for any non-music video in the platform’s history, and the trailer picked up Guinness World Records for the feat. The soundtrack, Tom Petty’s 1989 track Love Is A Long Road, surged on Spotify after the drop, a jump Kotaku put at roughly 37,000 percent. Full shot-by-shot notes live on the Trailer 1 page.

Trailer 2: Lucia, Jason and Leonida (May 6, 2025)

The second trailer opens the story out: Lucia walks out of prison to Jason waiting, and the pair run jobs across Vice City and the Leonida Keys, with masked hold-ups, car chases and boats threading the islands. It also planted flags collectors care about: Rockstar noted the footage was captured on PlayStation 5, the in-world TV spot revealed Phil’s Ammu-Nation, and the trailer accompanied confirmation of the 2026 release window. It out-performed even the first film-style debuts: Rockstar’s figures, reported by TechRadar and The Hollywood Reporter, put it at more than 475 million views across platforms in 24 hours, the biggest video launch on record. The Extended Look: August 27, 2026

The next official video now has a date. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET, then posts on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET the same day. Rockstar has not called it Trailer 3 and has not said what it contains; the wide expectation is extended gameplay, the one thing the campaign has held back.
