GTA 6 Extended Look premieres August 27, Netflix first

Rockstar has put a date on the next look at Grand Theft Auto VI. An official presentation titled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET, then lands on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET the same day.

Rockstar's wording is deliberate. The company calls it an Extended Look, not Trailer 3, and it has not said how long the video runs or what it contains. The broad expectation is extended gameplay, the one thing the campaign has held back since Trailer 2 arrived in May 2025, but until the video is live any claimed runtime or shot list is guesswork. The distribution is the real surprise. Netflix subscribers get the premiere six hours before anyone else, the first time Rockstar has handed a streaming service that kind of window for a game reveal. The logic is reach: Netflix puts GTA 6 in front of a general audience that never opens a gaming channel, right while pre-orders are live and holiday buying decisions are forming.

The timing fits the calendar too. August 27 is twelve weeks before the November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, the stretch where a blockbuster campaign normally goes loud. Rockstar has released two trailers to date, in December 2023 and May 2025, and pre-orders opened June 25 without a third video. Whatever the Extended Look turns out to be, it is the biggest scheduled GTA 6 moment between now and release day.

Precedent explains why a streaming platform wanted this. Trailer 1 drew a reported 93 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours in December 2023, the biggest debut for any non-music video in the platform's history at the time, and Trailer 2 was reported at more than 475 million views across platforms in a day when it landed in May 2025. Numbers like that are television-event scale, and Netflix is treating the premiere accordingly, with its own title page for the video. There is also a practical reading for anyone deciding whether to buy. The two editions and their prices have been set since June, $79.99 Standard and $99.99 Ultimate in the US, so the open questions are about the game itself: how missions flow, how the two-protagonist structure plays moment to moment, what the world simulation actually does, and whether Rockstar says anything about performance modes on the base consoles. A video Rockstar itself calls extended is the most likely place yet for those answers. The things it almost certainly will not settle are the ones Rockstar has kept silent all year, a PC version and the online mode, both still unannounced.
