How we rate gear for GTA 6
Every "best for GTA 6" pick is rated on a few attributes using an honest word scale, judged from the manufacturer spec sheet and documented third-party measurements against the rubric below. We do not run a testing lab, we do not invent scores out of 10, and we never present a price as fixed. You can check every rating against the spec it came from.
Where the ratings come from
Two sources, both checkable. First, the manufacturer spec sheet: HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, sequential read speed, battery hours, warranty years are published facts, and a rating built on them can be verified by anyone. Second, measurements published by outlets that do run labs, an input-lag figure or a battery rundown from a named review, quoted as theirs, never re-badged as ours. What we do not do is claim first-hand lab testing we have not done. Plenty of sites imply it; we would rather show you exactly which spec or measurement each rating rests on, which is why every gear card carries a "Why we picked it" line naming it.
The word scale
Each pick gets a rating per attribute on a five-word scale: Excellent, Very good, Good, Fair, Basic. Words, not decimals, on purpose: an 8.7 implies a measurement bench, and a word tier says exactly what we know and no more. A drive that reads at the PS5 interface limit rates Excellent on speed; one that is fast but off the pace rates Very good. Every tier can be argued from the spec sheet, which is the point.
What we rate, by category
- Consoles: Raw power, GTA 6 launch readiness, value, and ecosystem.
- TVs and monitors: Console fit (HDMI 2.1, 4K120, VRR, ALLM), motion, input lag, HDR brightness, and value.
- Headsets: Audio, mic quality, comfort, and wireless or latency.
- Controllers: Feel for GTA 6, customization, battery, and value.
- SSDs and storage: Speed, PS5 compatibility (Gen4, 5,500MB/s plus, heatsink), capacity, and value.
- Streaming gear: Capture or voice or image quality, passthrough and features, ease of setup, and value.
How we handle prices
A price on a gear card is either dated, meaning we verified it at that source in that month, or it says "Check current price" because we could not verify one and will not guess. We never freeze a number in copy or imply a deal that is not currently real, and every buy button links out to the live figure. How we stay honest
We label what is confirmed versus expected, we list real cons next to the pros (including when a manufacturer has discontinued a product we still recommend), and we update picks as prices, ports and stock change. Read our editorial standards.

Do you get paid for recommendations?
